Got this message from
Stephen Parker
I remember Ginge Regan! We had to catch the train from Ripon to Edinburgh,
for the flight to Belize in 1977. I believe Ginge got somewhat blathered
causing the SNCO's to stop the social event!

MAY 2022

As you are probably aware I run the group for 11 Ind fd Sqn Malaya1953-70.

We have been holding reunions at the Holiday Inn Coventry since 2008 and have had great turnouts. Sadly each year the numbers are depleted by passing of ex members and the ability to get to reunions because of age.

So we would like your help to keep these reunions going, by inviting you to join us each year and keep the Squadron alive.

Should you be interested please contact me for full details

Welcome
David Godfrey
I was in 73 Sqn up to December 1969 when I went to Chatham for my T1 Engineering Surveyor course. I never returned to Ripon as I was posted to 50 Sqn in Gibraltar building the Victoria Sports Stadium. I next came across 11 Sqn in Castledillon, NI when 50 Sqn took over in Feb 1972. I was sad to see only one of the 73 Sqn lads remained. What happened to the rest? Am I eligible to be added to the roll?

Hank
Very many thanks for getting back to me.
More than happy for you to post request and forward my details.
The request is hopefully simple one.
I’m after tracking down any member of 11 Sqn who was involved in the construction of the FOB at San Carlos as I will be presenting the Vignette of Heroic Sappering deeds at our forthcoming 300th Dinner night at RAF Wittering 21 Apr.
As there is little detail on the build less the famous painting I want to get to the story behind the painting.  I have already tracked down the FOB commander and catching up with him in the next couple of weeks.
If anyone out there is happy to talk to me about it, has a funny couple of one liners or photos that could add colour to the vignette very much appreciate.
Sorry I’m not on FACEBOOK so cant track people that way.
Regards
Bob

Troops,
Having just read the latest issue of The Sapper Mag, I must inform you the the Corps plan to disband 38 Engr Regt and the first sqn to go will be"Budgie Sqn" in late 2012.
This has been announced by the EinC and is part of the SDRS cutting measures. For those who served with the sqn in the Falklands in 1982, next year now more poignant with us hitting the 30 year mark.
Secondly, the mag also covered and article about a " Sapper Gathering" for all ranks who took part in the Falklands Campaign in 1982. it is to be held at the WOs and Sgts Mess, Brompton Barracks on Saturday the 9th June 2012.
Clearly there may well be other events organised throughout the country but this is the first one i have seen. It will cost £15 and you get a buffet meal with 2 free bottles of Sapper ale. Entry to this reception, the barracks and the museum is by ticket only and available from Lt Col CK Walker, Welfare officer, Brompton brks, Chatham,Kent,ME44UG or email
colw@supanet.com or
rsme const-1regt-welfare-uwo@mod.uk
I thinks we need to get this around the other RE sites so will do the rounds as best I can.
REgards to all

  2. Tam Coull 74-76 POM I remember in Sudan whilst awaiting our vc10 ride home from Juba saying to Mark Powling that I would never return to this place.
Funny how things work out. Last I heard of Mark he was working ss a POM down there and two years ago I was running Sudans oil terminal and again I said never again.hmmm.....
